What a beautiful guitar!! Almost makes me wish I played a 10 string.
These are fantastic guitars, friends. And at that price you're getting one that's as good as new, as far as I can see. _________________ Best regards,

As for trades. I've listed this guitar about 30% less than what a new Millennium will cost you.If you have a like new guitar and can take 30 % less than what they actually sell for.Maybe we can work something out. Some guitars have a really great resale value. Some don't.If you visit here often? You know which do and the brands that don't. Vintage pedal steels is a hold other ball game. But I can trade for old Emmons, Sho~Buds, Franklins and Bigsbys. But that's about it though.
About the set-up.It's the same a Buddy Emmons has listed here on both the E9 and C6th. The exceptions are pedal 4. Which is standard C6th.And the RKL, Which raises 1 a whole step. 2 a 1/2 step. And lowers 6 a full step and is split tuned for the G note. Of course any string can be split tuned on this guitar.
Click this link and scroll down to see the set-up written out.

Bobby you said you had no use for my Carters on trade for your MSA. All of my guitars and equipment are like BRAND NEW.
http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=110625
Sure would like to have that MSA of yours!
Oh well maybe I can trade them in on a new Jackson or Sho-Pro.
I heard they are almost as nice as the MSA.
Well here go's nothing Bobby!
$1000.00 and my 2 guitars and lets trade. Thats about 30% of thier value.
Thats my final offer and all the credit I have left to spend.
Help me out here!
Thanks.

David,by saying no use. I have no where to place them.I like a Carter. But they have like a 5 day waiting period for a new one. They build too many. too fast for them to have a high resale value. Thanks for the offer. The last Carter D-10 you bought.I think I can offer you what you paid for it + the balance...bb

That is a very interesting comment. However, using your own math in the above post, a "Like New" MSA immediately lost 30% of it's value. A brand spanking new Carter D10 is $2895. So a "Like New Carter" is worth roughly $2000... That is not what I see the recent used Carters selling for. In fact, it appears that most of them lose perhaps only 10-15% of their value in the first few years. I did a search of all previous D10 Carter offerings here and believe that in fact, the Carter holds it's value perhaps a little better than the MSA. I honestly think what you meant to say, is that there is not enough profit in the resale of used Carters for psuedo-dealers like yourself. The Carters are nice guitars that are less expensive initially and generally hold their value quite well. I also believe that the MSA guitars are quite nice. I've owned and played both brands. I just feel that your blanket statement concerning the value of used Carters is not fair to Carter guitars or their owners. Nor is it accurate when looking at objective data. _________________ Steve Stallings

Hi Steve
Acording to some information I have gathered from some other steel guitar builders, that know a heck of a lot more than I do requarding these matters.
The 04 3 year old MSA Sold for about $5300.00 new.
That make's it about a 93% resale value if you can find one for sale. WOW! Darn good.
I am sure there were other things to consider like maybe optional items. Leather covers and so forth.
There was one of these guitars for sale on ebay last month and I stopped my bidding at $3100.00 and then I was told by one of those same steel guitar builders that I was smart in doing so.
Needless to say I did not win it.
I wonder which player won it?
Resale value is a funny thing.
Supply and demand.
Thanks again for the feedback.

but.. but.. but... Bobby says it costs $6900!
Simply using Bobby's math...
This simply reflects the fact that many new pedal steels sell for far less than their list price for one reason or another. As a general rule, Carter does not discount their guitars period. So the list of $2895 is what the vast majority of folks pay. I still maintain that Carter PSG's hold their value quite well. Carter is the number one selling PSG in the world with many happy Carter owners. I no longer own a Carter but I have a great respect for the Carter folks. Good luck on your trade. _________________ Steve Stallings

The price, I listed is what's on the MSA site.Ask Reece for a discount.Again, let me know how that works out for you.
The price is 4900 + freight. That's what it's going to take. You can cry, call ya moma. Don't matter. It changes nothing. |

Guys,
The price of the Millinnium w 8/7 is listed as 6950.
My 8/6 is 6750. The Legend is 5300.w/8/5. This is a
Millennium that Bobby has for sale. They are in my opinion the Rolls Royce of Steel Guitars.

Again funny thing about resale value.
Bobby's got it and others want it.
Therefore whatever Bobby sells it for is what its worth.
There are so few of these made and avaliable for sell that the demand is very high.
This will drive up the resale value.
There is nothing wrong with making a profit.
Shoot I do it every day.
Some of you out there may not understand Bobby's personality.
I have never personality met the man but I can tell you he is all business. Straight to the point and speaks his mind at the moment he thinks of it.
Now, I am not like that but some people are.
There is nothing wrong with that!
I hope to meet him some day.
I would like to meet all of you guys some day.
Bobby good luck selling that beautiful steel of yours. I am not quite ready to spend that much money unless I can trade in both steels.
Again thanks again and good luck!
Maybe I will be able to sell both of mine at the same time and then get yours.
Who am I kidding it won't be here next week!

THank you Crow Bear and Doc Rickles. As for Dr.Stallings. This has nothing to do with this guitar. I tryed to address the questions. But most of my replies are now missing.Anyone that wants to hear the beef between me an Dr.Stallings. Just e-mail me.If I write it here.It will be deleted.
Mr. Anderson wrote a piece somtime back explaining why the cost of the Millenniums has gone thru the roof.Maybe some of you with nothing better to do will do a search. Please feel free to post it hear.
Mr. Biggers or anyone. If you can buy a new Millennim 8 and 7 for $5300. I'll give you 1000 profit. I want another black one.But at that price. any color will do.
Also, I thought your D-10 2 tone was an 06.Not a 96.Sure looks pretty. I wish you the very best with the both of them.
One tip from an old horse trader. When you're really serious about trading.Do it e-mail.Not on a public Forum. |

Huh???? This wasn't personal Bobby.
This has nothing to do with any "beef" Bobby. It is unethical to tear down another brand of guitar simply to promote your current sale. The fact that you are making a $900 profit on this sale, or even the recent Shobud you sold for an $800 profit have no bearing on this. Hey.. I didn't say a word about your amazing $1,000 student Zum... even when you implied that the new ones are somehow inferior simply to make a profit.
No, no beef Bobby... Your dealings here speak volumes.
I believe in the free market economy. People have a right to make a profit. What bothers me is your use of the trust and bond of this forum to turn a quick buck. You might think that you are pulling the wool over folks eyes... and yes, you do have some here who don't see anything wrong with the way you operate.
But.. I guarantee you, there are many folks here plenty smart enough to figure you out. _________________ Steve Stallings

Steve, I bought both guitars way under the money. I have to eat to.You're a doctor and you want to tell me I make too much money?I sell maybe a 8 or 10 a year. I'd like to see you try to live on what I make.
All this info you posted. done on E bay. Not the Forum. None of your business.
Now you posted my income. Post yours. For what it's worth. I put 50 hrs in the Bud to get it like I want it.How much can you make in 50 hrs??
Your posting of personal information is way out of line,Should cost you your account.[Forum Members. I'm I wrong here??
If you want to help? How about free health or cheap health care to Forum members.I've been disabled since age 34. I draw nothing.0 from the government. No one will hire me. So I can make money on my on.Or I can starve.
And the last thing I need on a buy and sell add is some over paid Doctor telling me I make too much money. We have some Doctors here than are fine people. You sir are a low life.
For the record.I like Carters. I buy and sell them also.Do they have a great resale value compared to an Emmons, Zum, Franklin etc? No
This whole thing is unreal. I've seen it. But I still don't beleive it.The Forum is becoming like Jerry Springer.

Uhh... A bit over the top. I didn't post any personal information Bobby. Ebay sales are public as is anything on the forum. I don't care how much money you make. That is silly. I just want you to stop preying on the uninformed folks here who believe you.
You don't know me... I'm not a rich doctor. I practice medicine in a Christian Rural Health Clinic for the indigent and disadvantaged. I make about one half of what I could make if I moved to a regular clinic.
I'm truly sorry that you are disabled. However, that doesn't excuse your methods here. Painting me as some rich doctor "picking on poor little you", doesn't alter your actions. Bobby, you must have some insight into all of this? I didn't participate in the Zum thread... was that some other rich doctors picking on you?
Think this through. Do you not realize that other folks can see this behavior too?
Best wishes... _________________ Steve Stallings
