I just called Reece and placed the first order for an MSA Double 8 String. Since I had the first 12 String Single neck, it was important to me to get the first Double.

It has been quite a day. In order to finance the transaction, I sold 5 other steels. The guy who bought them spent the whole day selling one of his steels to finance the purchase from me.

The guy who bought his steel probably spent the day selling something of his.

I guess when Reece and team produce, everyone in the country moves over one step.

Eat your heart out folks!!!!

BTW, if you want to know what color I got, it's the Mystic Red: http://www.msapedalsteels.com/html/superslide_pics.html

Yes, I believe Reece told me they got one together just before the slide off at Bobby's. It had just seen it for the first time just a few days before.

MSA has done a stellar job in making available an excellent high quality steel at a realistic price, especially when a player can have every conceivable option at a whim.

In an area where there is no real standard, this was something that needed to be addressed and this has been done way beyond all expectations.

I've heard a fair amount of people rave about the sound, and in our own NY Slide Off the SS came out on top.

Only one word for the D-8 "Super Slide", and this word is ----ASTOUNDING!
Bill, you will not be unhappy! You are a lucky guy! Your color should be incredible.
I love the cream color I have, looks great on stage, but I don't!

You are a lucky guy Bill.

Those MSA's are about the nicest looking nonpedal steels I've seen. There ain't one thing you can say looks cheap about them like you can about 99% of most new lap steels out there, few exceptions of course. While approximately $1,300 seems like a lot of money for a single 8, I do wish I could buy one. That said, I've got a 1954 Gibson Grande 7 and 8 string necker (among 7 other laps) that sounds just soooo pretty, solid and nice, that where does it stop that I want every nice guitar out there? I mean, I still want a Sierra lap steel, and Bakelite Rick, and a Remington, and a GFI (if Gene would ever make them again), and Lord knows what else. Aaaaand, I eventually will get all of the aforementioned, including the MSA SS, so...don't tell my lovely Susan.

I sure would love to hear and test drive one of these. Congrats Bill! It's a beauty!

Only thing is, that string spacing looks tight for me!

Jeff S. That's one of the things taken into consideration when the SuperSlide was designed. Tell us what string spacing you desire and we'll drill your string-thru and nut to your spec. (within the limits of the width) It's as simple as that...

Thanks for all the nice words. Needless to say, all of us at MSA appreciate them very much.

Jeff S....The SuperSlide was designed so the player could either add or subtract strings while the guitar maintained an original look.

In addition, it will adapt to any string spacing you wish within minutes. Our intent was to offer these features so as to provide owners the opportunity of change and musical freshness at any time. (which breeds enthusiasm)

The overall design offers everyone the flexability to musically advance relative to whats best for each individual without their having to purchase many different guitars along the way to achieve each purpose and personal musical goal.

As soon as my Double 8 arrives I'll get my photo taken with my Double 8, Single 12, and 12 string universal Pedal for the MSA site.

Only one thing Reece: I want an MSA hat!

What size do you want?....I'd say X-large with all of these dream steels you have!

For MSA; A question about spacing.....

I've seen & played Bill's 12 string. Can the spacing be made any wider than it is?

The doubleneck in the photo - almond creme w/tortoise guard is THE most beautiful lap steel I have ever seen. Wow. All the finishes are really nice, but that combo really hits me hard. Gorgeous.

Howard R....The 1st and 12th string run parallel with the front and back of the neck. The string spacing of a 12 string is the same as that found on most all pedal steel guitars therefore it plays very comfortably.

If someone wants a wider spacing on a 12 string it is of course possible which would mean the strings would only slightly exceed the outside edges of the neck on both sides. The good news is.... the spacing anyone wants can be installed in a very short time.

Chris W....Shall we reserve one for you in your choice of color ? Check our website, we now have some guitars ready for immediate delivery which just might trip your trigger.

Sorry Bill! My black Millennium S12 8/5 says serial # uno! That is correct, right Reece?
I also got a MSA hat with it!

Right. I've got a demo Millenium. But numero uno Superslide. And numero uno Superslide Double.

We should have a very small party for everyone who has the first off the line.

I think Reece and Kyle owes a dinner in Dallas. After all its a small club.

no. Since the double 8 has 16 strings, it means it is 2.66 times better than yours.

I believe Bobby has the demo model that is featured on the site. I have ordered the first production model to be sold to the public.
