Thinking of wiring a capacitor to the pot to change it to a foot controlled tone pot. Like to do byrd tone swells, but not skilled enough to use the pot on the guitar. Is this a wacky idea? Has anyone tried it before? Any tips on how to go about it?

Yep, I wired a foot volume pedal with a switch that changes it to a tone control.
The catch is that when it is in "tone" position, the volume is full on.
Not a problem for me as I keep my volume pedal full on all the time and only use it for fades.
Not difficult.
