I used to know Martha back when we both lived in Missoula, Mt. She was the singer in the band "the Reeltime Travelers". She's a great singer and songwriter.

Ron,

You made my day with your question. I played steel on that cut, and a few others on the album including the title cut, "The West was Burning". It was recorded in Woodstock, NY at Levon Helm's studio, and it's Levon playing drums on it.

It was one of those sessions, that as long as you don't do anything to spoil it, you know it will come out great. It's hard not to be inspired by Martha's voice.

Hi Fooch. It's good to see you on the Forum. Is Levon Helm playing drums on the song on the myspace site?

Ron,

I usually record direct out of my digitech 2101 processor, but on this session I'm pretty sure I used my 1980's Webb amp with a JBL D-130 miked, a Goodrich matchbox 7A with no other effects, and my Zum D10.

Chuck,

Howdy and nice to hear from you. Yes, that's Levon on the tile cut "The West Was Burning" on her myspace page referenced above.
