If you live in the Pacific Northwest and want to see the Campbell Brothers, the time is now:
July 3 -- Waterfront Blues Festival, Portland
July 5 -- Tractor Tavern, Seattle
July 7 -- ICA Folk Festival, Victoria
July 8 -- Harrison Festival, Harrison Hot Springs |

Russ was over there with me on the Jerry Douglas board when I posted about seeing the Campbell Brothers last Saturday in San Francisco.
It was my first time seeing them.
If they are anywhere remotely close to you, they are not to be missed!
The new CD is outstanding. Best of the Sacred Steel stuff recorded so far, IMHO.

I'm planning on seeing The Campbell Bros. show in Victoria - I live about 40 kilometres north of there on Vancouver Island.
I'll be playing 6-string C6-tuned Lap Steel at the same Folk Festival on July 9 with a "Canajun" cajun band called Bijoux de Bayou, opening for Chubby Carrier.

Darn, I missed them too. How did that one get past me. They are scheduled to return to San Franciso with special guest Sonny Landreth (wow, that should be a nice show)on Sunday September 25th at the SF Blues Festival. http://www.sfblues.com/
A few weeks ago I read that they would be at The Great American Music Hall (in SF) on September 23rd. I just checked and find no mention of it on anyone's web site. I hope it happens as I would prefer to see them there. |

The Seattle Times almost got it right. They have Phil playing lap steel and Darrick playing 6 string. Otherwise it is a good article.

Wow, Karlis -- you're asking a lot from a newspaper that has won seven Pulitzer Prizes. [This message was edited by Russ Young on 01 July 2005 at 02:14 PM.] |

We're gonna have fun!
This must be the month for Sacred Steel in the Northwest. The Lee Boys are also going to be in Seattle and BC next week!

Go see the Campbell Brothers if you have the chance. The lap and pedal steel combination is sublime. Chuck Campbell is very approachable and loves talking steel guitar. He was playing an Excel when I saw him last year.
cheers,
Drew

The show in Seattle was terrific! Dan Tyack joined the Campbell Brothers for the second set to make it an extra special event. The jam on "Don't let the devil ride" had the place rocking.
If you get a chance, go see them. You will be rewarded by one of the best bands featuring steel guitar.

Aaaaarrrggghhhh! I had to go attend to some family business in the Wine Country (Prosser, WA -- not the Loire Valley) and missed the show.
It happens almost every time that Dan Tyack plays somewhere around town! But I'm glad that they rocked the place ... who else made it to the show? |
