Some of you may remember the maple mahogany version of this steel I did a little ways back.

Well here is its with the woods reversed.

Specs
African mahogany
hard rock maple
bone nut
maple dot / marker inlay
string through hard tail
GFS Mean 90 (HB sized P90)
25" scale
Tru-Oil finish

I love the way this one turned out. It is very resonant, tons of sustain, and great tone.
It plays great clean, but excels with a bit of dirt and gravel tossed in the mix, a real bluesy rock and roller.
I'll try and get some clips up later when I get a bit more time.

Some pics
.

Very nice, I like this one even better than the maple one (which was also great).

Great! I'm a big fan of the National New Yorker, and this evokes that look but with an organic and beach-as-opposed-to-city feel. Wink Someone mentioned before "New Yorker gone Californian" or similar - I have never been to California, but I can imagine.

Thanks for posting.

Love the attention to detail in the volume/tone control positioning: i.e. carrying the same wood type on either side of the controls. That's a million $$ baby!!

Holy Schmokers! That is one awesome looking lapsteel. I can't believe you inlayed the fret markers and lines in the neck. That is "attention" to detail!

You should be very proud of this instrument. You are truely a craftsman.

Cheers!

You've done it again, Tom! Beautiful work. Of course, next time, you'll have to inlay roman numerals for fret markers... Wink

Thanks all ... you are much too kind Smile
No doubt if I spent as much time playing as I do building, I'd be a much better player Wink
But, I get a ton of enjoyment out of both so its a win win for me.
