Anybody do a side to side compare of the stock Evans Eclipse speaker against a Weber California in an Evans amp? Any freeback on just using a CA with an Evans would be useful as well. I'm toying with changing speakers in my Evans and looking for some input. Thanks! |

Hi Kenny. No can do. The Cali is rated at 80 watts. Weber is conservative with their numbers and I've had no problem pushing a Cali with a 100W Fender Dual Showman Reverb but you'd be going way over spec with the Evans. If the JBL-ish direction is where you're headed, try the speaker that Tom Bradshaw is selling. Tom Bradshaw
For some reason I can't find any reference to it on his site but you can email him. It's getting good reviews---he's using it in his new Webbs.
-----BTW--my Evans FET 500 Custom is dead and needing to get sent to Evans but several years ago I changed the Eclipse for a Black Widow and it was a good upgrade. |

That's why I asked for some input. I may want to rethink this for sure. Thanks for the help. |

I`ve had a 10" Weber Cali in my Evans RE200 for a couple of months now. I`ve played gigs with a six piece band with it , no problems. For the fattest chords the 10" is a bit small, but at least I haven`t been able to blow the Cali ! _________________ Olli Haavisto
