Did anyone watch Letterman last night? (5/16/07) The guitarist in the house band played his Fender Dual Pro backing soul singer Mavis Staples. The guitar looked good and sounded good! He played mostly blues slide licks.

I'm so inspired by this, I've decided to break out my T-8 Stringmaster from the closet, put new strings on it, and play it next week on one of my gigs!

I play pedal steel on most gigs, although I have a number of non-pedal steels. I'd like to play more non-pedal, but old habits are hard to break. Wink

Who was playing?
I know that Ry Cooder is the producer of the new Mavis Staples album (and also plays guitar on most tracks), so maybe that was him on TV, too?

EDIT: Ooops, sorry, should have read more closely - you said it was the guitarist of the house band...

I say better to break them than to die with them. Smile

With attention to the non-pedal steel you will enter a new growth period and live happily after after.... Cool

Aloha, Smile

Doug

I'v been giging with the D-8 stringmaster for the last 5 years & your comment inspired to go pedal this weekend -- It wasn't top end pedal work , but I did enjoy the heck out of it - thanks for the inspiration .
