Anyone ever play thru one of these? I scored on for $100 a few weeks ago and I love it. Mid sweep, compression, spring reverb. Sounds great.
Hate to say it, but I think I like it as much as, if not more than my Twin.
I also play my hollowbody 335 through it with the same settings as my steel and it gives a great jazz tone.
Just wondering if anyone else had/has one.

Hey Joe, thats the one with the 15" EV, right? I've no personal experience with the Lab Series line but if you do a search on the "old" Forum under "Amps & Accessories" and "Electronics" you'll find a couple threads with some discussion. This is one of the few solid-state amps that tube lovers seem to like, plus a bunch of folks find them versatile (steel, 6-string electric, and even acoustic instruments). Nice score!

Hi Stephan,
Yes it has the 15" EV. I really dig it. Wish it were a tad louder tho, but when its miked, I guess that dosent matter too much.

Hey Rand....nice to see someone else using one!
I have promised myself I wont sell any more of my instruments/ amps.......too many past regrets. Due to being broke, I had to give up a Tele, a Hammond B3 and Leslie speaker, Fender Rhodes and countless others. If I hadnt sold those things I'd have a musical arsenal right now. Of course my apartment would look like Guitar Center, but thats not so bad, is it? |

| I used an L-7 (2-12"'s) for years for both guitar and steel. It is a great amp and you can find these very cheap. I have saved mine as a back up head after the speakers blew. |

I got one of these cut down to a head from Bob Carlucci last year. Real nice amp, probably the warmest solid-state vintage amp out there, to my tastes. B.B. King, Ray Flacke, and I believe Ricky Skaggs have been known to use Lab Series amps of one sort or another. I absolutely agree on the great jazz/blues guitar tone, and they have a real nice clean country guitar tone also.
One thing for sure - you got a great deal on yours. Another thing - don't use a speaker with a lower-than-rated impedance - that's 8 ohms on the L9.
