Push/Pull facade, or All-Pull facade?

ET facade, or JI facade?

Tube facade, or Solid State facade?

Stainless Wound facade, or Nickel Wound facade?

As many have stated, here on the Forum, the facades that are being produced these days just aren't as good as the facades they put out in the old days. These younger folks just don't know what a good facade is.

Of course, the worse kind of facade is an artificial facade.

Stephen,

If I don't go into details, I'd say that your new thread is the element of surprise that counteracts a readership avowed to avoid making inquiries. I wonder if there are steel players who play without enthusiasm? Is that a difficult question?

Wikipedia (again...Smile )
Enthusiasm (Greek: enthousiasmos) originally meant inspiration or possession by a divine afflatus or by the presence of a God. Johnson's Dictionary, the first comprehensive dictionary of the English language, divines enthusiasm as "a vain belief of private revelation; a vain confidence of divine favour or communication." In current English vernacular the word simply means intense enjoyment, interest, or approval.

divine afflatus...? Should I take my gas pills?

webster:

facade

1 : the front of a building ; also : any face of a building given special architectural treatment <a museum's east facade>
2 : a false, superficial, or artificial appearance or effect

-------------------------------------------------------

Obviously #2 is not the intent so Stephen must be thinking along the lines of #1. Maybe his life dream of becoming an Architect was never realized, just like George Costanza.

Facade #1 The art of making out like your amp is busted when you have a solo your afraid to tackle.
Facade #2 When you hit a clinker note reach under the the steel and make out like a rod stuck.
I've got a million of em!

Nothing in life is more spurious than the concocted illusion of zeal as it relates to the steel guitar. Often times I have pondered the menacing facade of enthusiasm that pervades this noble field of endeavor. The cloak of artificial fervor jeopardizes the relevance, indeed the very existence, of our glorious implement of expression, the steel guitar, so pregnant with possibilities.

enthusiasm is wildly overrated. I much prefer resoluteness. To be resolute (and toss in a little brooding resoluteness) That coupled with the facade of being broodingly resolute. Now we have something. Any married woman can see right trhough the facade of enthusiasm (Yes dear, just a minute dear, you're right dear, I love the new drapes, no you don't look fat, you don't have wrinkles, no you don't look tired, I love your shoes) and while you will need to exhibit this trait... the facade of the resolute will deliver far greater service in the goal of whatever you might choose. (which is to stride through one section of the house with the facade of the resolute while full intending to disappear into the garage to play music, read the psg (posting would require actual resoluteness) or snore ever so softly while laying on a variety of amp covers near all the projects that have piled up.

So, then, if we combine Mr. Prior's #2, i.e., false or superficial, with Mr. Minich's opinion of Johnson,i.e. vanity, we drift into vain superficiality, or the false hope of otherworldly flatus, when the Johnson is the norm.
Bill H., there are no difficult questions. Some answers are more readily perceived than others, however.

Hey I REALLY like playing for you people;

It doesn't matter if'n y'all think

Lefty Frizzel is a hair styling chain,

Thelonious Monk is a Trappist.
And a Trappist catches rabbits.

Kenney Chesney is saving country music.

Salsa is what you put in a Chimichanga.

Can't tell B. Diddly from P. Diddy.

Big and Rich is a life style choice.

Wes Montgomery is east of Prattville.

I am quite excited to entertain you
even though you think:

George Jones is Jim's cousin
but missed the flight south.

Disco is not dead,
and neither is polyesther

Acoustic guitars all have cables

Bluegrass is not country music.

Britany Spears songs belong
in a 60's blues rock set.

Reggae should be played with Marshall amps

You think this total pick up band of rank strangers,
is the best thing you have heard in years.

You think Lincn Park is an amusment ride.

No I really mean it I WANT to play for you:

Even of you have no idea WHAT I am playing.

LOVE line dancing, and Achey Breaky Heart
is your all time favorite song.

Can't name 3 Beatles songs.

Think my upright bass is a trombone.

Expect me to sing in Lithuanian
just cause you asked for it.

ONLY request Dolly Parton songs,
when we are playing Taj Mahall and John Mayall

Want to 'sing in the band,
but just one song,
and I think I know all the words!!'

Try to sell me Amway during my lead solo.

Think 'Giant Steps' is a day care center

Think Hoagy Carmichael is
an Irish Deli Sandwich

Think Cole Porter is what you fill the furnace with.

Charge for drinks at a 5 hour gig
in 95 degree heat

Think Jacky MaClain is running for president

Applaud for our warm up jam
but not for the 1st set

Yes this is an Enthusiasm Facade,
but you don't know it, so I keep smiling...
Check please! Cash prefered.
