A month or so ago I put up a web page on Greenfield Hawaiian Guitars, made in Edmonton, Canada in the late 1920's.
www.notecannons.com/Greenfieldguitars
I have now been given their 1930 sales brochure, which I will scan and add to the page, but have still been unable to locate a copy of the earlier brochure that Lorene Ruymar's two scans were taken from. Lorene can't help, but perhaps someone here can?
Please take a look, and if you can add any information, or put owners in touch with me please leave me a message at my forum/guestbook.
Mahalo,

George Keoki Lake,
Hi, I noticed that you are in Edmonton, so can you help with a trip to your local library to see if they have any historical archives that might relate to the WA Greenfield family and their furniture / guitars? I have the factory address from the late 1920s if that helps at all.
Even the website addresses of Edmonton papers, city council, historical society etc would be of great interest to me in researching this.
Thanks in advance,
Colin

Mahalo, George.
You are ideally placed to research this in your own time, and any help you can give will be much appreciated!
Aloha,

I'm in Whistler, North of Vancouver. I expect you know Lorene & Art Ruymar in Vancouver?
Michael Dunn and Steve Dawson have been teaching low bass G Hawaiian guitar classes in Vancouver for the last few years, so with Ralph Shaw's ukulele circle there is quite a thriving traditional Hawaiian music scene here.

Yes, I know Art and Lorene very well. Happy to know there is "Hawaiian activity" out there on the Coast. I have been teaching seniors 55+ for the past ten years on steel and ukulele with very gratifying results. |
