Has anybody ever tried installing biscuit bridge hadrware (cone, bridge, coverplate) in the place of the spider bridge hardware? I want a biscuit bridge sound and have a low end spider bridge guitar I thought I might try this on.

Several years ago (maybe 6) I added a shelf to the internal ring on a Regal 'Dobro' and dropped in a National cone. For whatever reason it wasn't very successful as far a tone and volume. I never messed with it much since soon after I built my first metal body and used the cone in it. I converted the Regal back to stock and sold it.

The 10.5" biscuit cone used in OMI Dobros would probably fit right on the shelf, but there might be height/clearance problems between the biscuit and the coverplate.

National Resophonic sell these. I never did much like the sound of the OMI 10.5" cone, but havn't tried one of the new replacements.

I too doubt it's worth the effort.
