I just upgraded to BIAB 2007 from Jim Baron.
My Sound Canvas is a SC-55st which is about 15 years old. ..........but still works fine.
Question:
If I were to replace this unit, what is recommended and/or what are people currently using with BIAB? And the likes and dislikes of each.
Thanks,
Jim |

The VSC that comes with BIAB works good.I have used a CS55 and SB55 for about the same time as you,I put about 30 hours a week on them playing out in a trio up till a couple years ago.Now I just use them at home and they work great.

I use the Forte DXI soft synth that PG Music sells. After I started using it, I never use the real drums, the Forte drums sound just as good in my opinion. It was the best $40 I've spent since I started using BIAB. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |

Jim,
After upgrading to 2007 I finally decided to try out the bundled Roland Virtual Sound Canvas. I was really surprized by how good it sounds. I A/B' it with my Korg O5RW (sound modual) and the software synth sounds much better.
The VSC has nice reverbs and lets you build set lists as well (song lists).
I can now just run out of my headphones output direct to the PA system from my laptop. No noise at all. I still keep the Korg and Roland MC50 handy as a backup...but I wouldn't want to go back.
One thing that I did need to do was to use a "ground lifter" on my laptop power cord. I was getting a "hum" through the PA without.

Excuse my limited knowledge on this subject.
Is this bundled software installed at time of installation?
I am running BIAB 2007 on an older computer with Windows 98 system. Does it still work on that system?
How do I get the output from the bundled software to my PA system? Only headphone jack? Through the BIAB "Opts" menu?
Any info appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim |

Jim, when I bought Band in a Box a few years ago it was included with my purchase but on a separate disk. after you install it you go back into BIAB options and "midi driver setup" to get it goin. |
