It was good and reminded me of the way things used to be. Fitting that the song itself has a remember when type of theme. It is called A Different World by Bucky Covington. Apparently, he was an Idol contestant. (I'm sure that will get a few of you going. Razz ) I liked his voice and the music (with steel!) was very warm and traditional like. What do you say Theresa?

Added: It is #6 on the Country chart at Wal-Mart digital downloads. Go there and click the sample and you will hear a very sweet steel fill. We pull a lot of weight around here. Wink

Anyone ever heard of Sunny Sweeney? A Texas girl that has some twang in her music. I saw her on myspace like a year ago then found out today that she got a big record deal and has recently gone nation wide. She loves Merle Haggard, so I love her! Ha!

It has been close to 3 months since I made this post. This song is now #7 on Billboard and STILL #6 on Wal-Mart downloads. One of the best traditional steel performances on the charts in a long time.

I agree, a good traditional type country song. That's what the world was like when I was growing up.

I remember the first remote control we had for our TV was my dad saying, "John, get up and change the channel." Smile Smile Then he would say, "Go outside and get up on the roof and move the antenna until I tell you to stop so we can get a better picture."

Ahhhh, those were the days. Much simpler and less hectic.

I'm with you! I don't have and iPod but I earned 2 free iTunes downloads from buying my Haggard & Jones tickets online at TicketMaster. I think you've given me a couple of good leads with these new real country artists (or songs, at least).

Thanks Forum Brothers & Sisters, for keeping my little buddy, " Bucky Covington " alive on Radio Stations across this world. If he goes to # 1 He'll be-able to have a Steel-Guitar Player in his Band, for sure. Let's keep him going. Leo J.Eiffert,Jr.

I've heard this song a couple of times and each time I'm sure I'm listening to the band Shenendoah. (That's not not a criticism, by the way!)

Yep, Austin gal. Her record was recorded at forum member Tommy Detamore's Cherry Ridge Studio in Floresville, TX. Besides being talented she's just a VERY nice person.

Another positive comment on Sunny Sweeney. She's a sweetheart, and drop-dead good looking IMHO... and she's married! Wink

I did a very pleasureable gig with her one night at a honky-tonk here in A-town when she was just starting out. She's a sophisticated gal but her voice is super-r'neck-country. Kind of a cross between Jeannie C. Riley, Gretchen Wilson, and Connie Cato, if those names ring any bells with y'all.

I believe Austinite Geoff Queen is now playing steel with her band. I'll be in France for the Equiblues Festival this Saturday, and I think Sunny is going to be performing there this Friday. Hopefully, we'll cross paths again.

She lives in my part of town, so occasionally we run into each other. Nice lady.

Bucky is at #6 still.
He was on the American Country Countdown on Sunday. He seems to be very down to earth. He was great on American Idol. I like his song choice.
Hopefully, he'll carry steel on the road. Smile

I wish him great success.

Hello Theresa Galbraith, My ole friend 'Mark Miller " of the group Sawyer Brown Produced " Bucky Covington " Album. I don't think they have another strong song on that Album to keep him going after, " A Different World ". If it should make it to # 1 it would give them time to put another Album together. I sure hope so,he is a real super young man as well as his brother Rocky. Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. & Pigeons
