Has anyone played around with a modeling signal processor to simulate a Dobro sound on a lap steel?

Bob,
You could buy a "Dobro simulator",for around $300,(+/-)to get that one effect,OR you could buy a used Peavey ProFex II,for $225(+/-)to get that effect,PLUS,127 other effects!! The choice is yours.

Or, for about the same price, you could buy a cheap dobro.

fooling around with my stomp boxes I plugged my lap steel into a chorus pedal.
normaly I dont use stomp boxes with my steels (well, an overdrive for the gritty dirt, but that's it).
aanyway, the chorus actually sounded nice.
it did not sound like the usual chorus effect on electric guitars.

more dobroish.

I seriously doubt this is what you are searching for , but if you have a chorus pedal and fiddle alot with the settings you might get close.

my new national is in the mail. soon come I hope.

You might also use some kind of non metal bar along with the above mentioned effects.
