Could anyone help me indentify the year my Dobro was produced, please? I bought it second hand in 1989, have it in the FOR SALE section of The Forum and wanted to update my info. The serial number is: D 1468 6 Thanks muchly, steve t

1976
D = woodbody
1468th made that year
76 = year
They changed the serial # scheme a few times but I remember the one for the 70's because I once had a D xxxx 8 Model 27'Very Happy'

Frank, very big thanks for the date of production. One thing I'm curious about is that there is only a lone "6" at the end of the serial number, not a "76" indicating a 1976 model. Could someone at the plant have forgotten to stamp a 7 there? Again, thanks for taking the time to respond. steve t

No, that's just the way they did it in the 70's. Mine was a 78 and had just a lone 8 last digit. I see my mistake in that I should not have included the 7 in "76" in my first reply.
