OK here is the latest adventure using the Leavitt tuning. The song is "How Insensitive" by Carlos Jobim. I used a drum loop that is sort of like a latin beat that has been infiltrated with garage rock! Smile Some day I might put on some kind of bass track if I can figure out what to play on it with the chords all changed around like they are.

There is an improv section in the middle and a vamp at the front and the end. There are several quotes from other songs during the tune and in the improv section. See who can come up the names of the tunes.

This is sort of a crazy arrangement done a lot faster than most play this tune, but it was fun to show again what the Leavitt is capable of musically.

Done on an 8 string guitar.

That was pretty darn awesome Bill! Sounds like you've got a pretty good handle on the Leavitt tuning.

Very cool-- that deserves a full Latin arrangement around it!!

Thought I caught some of Grieg's "Hall of the Mountain King"(?) and about one second of "Carol Of the Bells". (But then I "hear" stuff all the time... Wink)

Hey Bill -- that's some pretty fancy HIGH-wyin' GEE-tar playin' yer doin' thar!

Shocked

Seriously, amazing what you're able to do with that tuning, and the imagination to come up with that musical idea. I caught the cool quotes in there, as others have mentioned, and also caught the "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler On The Roof about the 1:29 mark.

VERY COOL STUFF! I'm almost tempted to learn your arrangement, and add a fretless bass line to it, just for fun (and challenge).

Great job.

Very Happy

You guys are good.

Jeff and Billy got the "Place in France" line.

Stephen got the "Carol of the Bells"

Todd got the tune from Fiddler on the Roof.

There are three more. I will give you two.

At :47 there is a quote from the tune "The Summer Knows" Seems like it was a movie from the 70s.

At 1:24 there is a quote from West Side Story.

That leaves one more and it is very obvious at about 1:22. I thank all of you for listening and your encouragement for the Leavitt tuning.

D'oh! Of course -- Steel Guitar Rag (the caffeinated version) at 1:22!

Very Happy

That's it Todd!

Actually I tried to get a little "Joshua Fought the Battle of Jerico" in at 1:00 but I just didn't get close enough for the "song quote police" to approve.
