I have to say that Buck Reid is one of the best players I've ever heard! His CD -- "Work in Progress" -- is just so incredible. It's been in my car CD player for the past two weeks and I'm still excited to play it over and over! By the way, Buck is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.
His tone and execution is second to none! I encourage EVERY steel player to buy Buck's CD and soundtrack CD. Trust me, you'll be glad you did!
You can email Buck at: breidmusic@comcast.net Here's the info from his website http://buckreid.com:

Yep Bill, they don't come any better. I've played Buck's CD every day for the past nine months and marvel at his skill and execution every time, an incredible musician and steel player and a gentleman to boot. I've also used Buck's 112 amp settings for that same period of time and have had some great comments from other steel players regarding the clarity and tone that those settings produce. This is one grateful steelie |

I met Buck at the Alabama show a few months back.
The show was full of personalities....as always. From a technical perspective, Buck seems to play with intense concentration..He is so very focused..I took some short video clips, and studied his copedent. You just gotta admire a guy that invests that kind of time in his musical endeavors. And the result is inspiring...Great Player....So Ive learned most of the album.....You guys gotta get his arrangement of Cry....
Oh yeah, his daughter was there with him for the show......Ya may be seeing her on TV before too long too.... _________________ ARTIST RELATIONS: MSA GUITARS

IMO, Buck is one of the top PSG Musicians on the planet and a super guy to boot. We have went to see Buck twice when he was here and he was nice enough to bring Lyle with him. |

Buck's arrangements are literally mind boggling! Buck wears it out!! He's got it all; the feel, the TONE and all the musical knowledge it takes to master this instrument. I consider players like Buck to be gifted...and he developed his gift.
Based on limited time talking to Buck and Kendra, he goes way past being a great player; he's a great dad and person to boot. I hope to catch Buck again in the near future.
If you really want to open up the steel guitar and see it as you never have before, buy at least one of his tabs and the CD, or tracks. Buck has some changes that you wouldn't think of in a 1000 years. I bet you'll buy some more of his stuff if you give it a try. And NO, it isn't easy, but it can be learned with practice. It's rewarding enough to learn the stuff; I couldn't imagine coming up with the creativity to produce these arrangements!
I look forward to Buck getting us another CD to buy! AND, "The Waiting Room" Tab is next! Can't wait to get my picks on it!! |

There are so many greats in this industry and so many I look up to. To do something that move's one person in my mind is "mission accomplished". To move several people is mind boggling to me. I'm not worthy but I thank each of you for your kind words! |

Everything my friend Tim Bridges said is so true! Buck's playing was so refreshing at our Alabama Steel Guitar show this past January.
We're waiting for your second CD Buck! By the way, feature your lovely daughter who sang at the show also.

One more debt I owe Jimmie Crawford is being able to get to know Buck via the famous "basement". A big second to everything above... _________________ John Macy

Double Ditto to all you Buck Reid Admirers; You seem to have the same taste buds, which I posses.I agree, There is no one any nicer than this young man; I just happen to be a little more PROUD of him, then many; Buck comes from my neck of the woods; that is Central New York State; He and his Daddy lived only a few miles from our home at Mapleview, N.Y. Keep up the great work, Buck. I'm sending for your CD very soon.. By the way, Buck is available for lessons when his schedule allows it from playing for Lyle Lovett's band. Again, one of the most refreshing players today! |
