Rich, that's a Stella with the 'baby shoes'.
But it probably has more power and tone than the Vega, which looks way cooler even with the faux shoes.[This message was edited by Ron Whitfield on 24 May 2005 at 06:31 PM.] |

What do I think? I think the guy needs a new "music expert," if a so-called one was even consulted. I sent him a note detailing all the ways that this instrument demonstrably was not a Rickenbacher.
A waste of time, probably.

I knew you guys would come through.
Ron V. That's the second round on Ebay for that one. I love it. Saving for the big one. Gibson EH275 if I ever find one.
Ron W. Thanks, I thought I'd seen that one before, but I forgot it was a Stella. Do you think Vega made that instrument for Stella?
Ian. You're obviously correct. How many people does it take? (Check the Q&A on the auction) Guess he'll find out soon enough.
This is great mental masturbation. |

I thought that was the same one. I made him an offer last time but he said no.

Ron W. is right on with Stella as the manufacturer. I thought they were probably produced by Harmony, like their line of acoustic guitars, until I came across a very early woodbody Vega with the exact same "mini" horseshoe pickup. The body on the Vega was also very similar to the Stella so you may have nailed that one Richard. I've owned two Stellas plus the aforementioned Vega and they didn't stack up to a Rick in terms of tone but still a pretty cool early steels. |
