I'm not looking at my 800 right now, but the pic of a '63 1000 (FS: Inst.) made me remember this. Is there a way of adjusting the (10th) string and/or pickup height on an 800? Even a little resting right hand pressure pushes the string into the polepiece with the resulting noise. (This is a '64 model with a "Jaguar-style" pickup.)

!. The string is probably too light a gauge.

2. The Posidrive (Phillips) screw at the end of the pick-up nearest the 10th string is the height adjustment for that end of the pick-up turn it clockwise to lower the pick-up.
