Hey Bill, I've got one of those and use it every Saturday night for a 3 hour gig. I love it! I had (and still have) an Alesis SR16 that I've had for over six years and still don't know how to program anything into it. I tried out three different Zoom models and settled on the 3B as it was the easiest to use and only cost me $99 plus tax. Within an hour of taking it home I already had some extra patterns programmed into it which I use a lot. Also the size of it is nice as it goes right onto an effects board that I use setting on a TV stand next to me....All in all, I think these are one of the most "user friendly" drum machines out there. I just wanted something to play gigs with and this little beauty fills the bill.........JH in Va.

Hey Bill, another thing you'll like about it is that if you're playing in a dimly lit room all the buttons light up and it's got a very bright LED reading to let you know what pattern and speed you're on....It's a cool little box.....JH in Va.

Jerry, is it possible for you to post some of your settings. I picked up one of these recently and I like what I hear. Need to find a good shuffle beat or two.

Fred, here are some to the settings I use.........

B-67 This is a "triplett" feel, something you'd use for a tune like Sleepwalk....

B-72 this along with B-71 & B-74 are usable shuffles......

B-79 this is the one for Bluegrass or Polkas or slowed down it works well for something like Workin' Man Blues....

A-28 This is an 8th note feel with a snare on 2 and 4, something that would work well with Okie From Muskogee or Silver Wings......just vary your speed control.

B-58 This is my favorite as it's an 8th note pattern with a rimshot instead of the regular snare sound. I use this one slowed down or sped up more a bunch of things. You can even speed it up to do a more "driving" Workin' Man Blues beat.

C-89 is a good straight Latin Type beat, good for things like Devil Woman, It's Now or Never, Spanish Eyes, Apache, etc.

B-83 Another 8th note pattern with rimshot except it has a single bass drum kick........

B-69 At proper speed is a Willie/Waylon type waltz for something like Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys. or you could take beat #B-67 and slow it down to get the same thing............

The machine doesn't come with a usable waltz tempo so I programmed a couple into slots U-01 and U-02

U-01 is a regular old boom chick chick waltz with appropriate cymbals etc.

U-02 is a more modern type waltz with a hard rimshot on beat 3 and a closed hi-hat on 1, 2, & 3. Also a ba-boom bass drum on beat one.........

have a good 'un...........JH in Va.

I have been working full and part time in a duo since I moved to Florida almost 4 years ago. Guitar, bass/keys and MRT3B. The coolest thing was the 1st gig, the drum machine payed for it's self. After that we split it's cut every night! $LOL$

And some guys will say "but you're knocking a drummer out of a gig", that's not true. 90% of the places we played on the beach were not big enough for a drum set and we had to play really quiet during dinner hour.

The Zoom MRT 3B is worth every penny.

Hear it in action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euYo7OSS57o
