It looks like a couple of different brands parts have been included. The short keyheads are pretty weird, especially on a full length body. I emailed the seller asking for a photo of the undercarriage. Before seeing any more photos, I'd say it was made by a DIY builder or hobbyist. And the seller has approx. 20,000 negative feedbacks!!!

"Bask in the glory of this amazing Pedal Steel guitar as you impress all of your friends with such a magnificent instrument.

We do not know the make or model of this fine instrument, but we do know that the tone quality is highly impressive."

The sellers are named 'BargainLand'. They survive on hype.

It's up to $760.00!!!

I can't believe people have bid it up that high with only 1 picture. Not to mention the extremely non-descriptive ad. Don't forget all the neutral feedback & negative feedback.

Perhaps it might be a good one...then again perhaps not. It's not worth the gamble...at least not with my money.

As for the Zum advertised from China, the seller - Steve Takacs - is a well known and respected Forum member. I have visited Steve in China, and whooever buys his steel, will get an immaculately maintained Zum at a good price.
Steve has clearly explained why he needs the money now - to finance the purchase of another instrument.
Then it`s up to us if we would like to avail ourselves of the opportunity to get Steve`s Zum now with delivery in a couple of months. With waiting times what they are for new Zums, this does not seem unreasonable at all considering what you get here.
Steve is a good guy, a good steel guitarist and he even plays steel with his own country band in Beijing.
If I didn`t have a love affair going with ZB`s, I would have picked this one up myself.

Mickey, Farris,

the seller of the ZumSteel D-10 from Enderlin, ND/Beijing, China is forum member Steve Takacs, an American who works as a teacher in China. During the summer months he visits with his family in the states where he also keeps some of his steels.

I have bought several items from Steve, including a D-10 Sierra Crown. Everything stated in that ebay ad will be 100% correct. If I didn't have too may steels already I would pick this one up in a heartbeat. Steve is an honest person and I trust him absolutely. Even though we've never met face to face, I consider him my friend.

Rainer

P.S. Sometimes it's not a bad idea to do a little research before hitting the submit button.

OK, I'M NOT THE SMARTEST KID ON THE BLOCK!!!!!

I do not associate EBAY With THE FORUM!!!!

Sure, STEVE is alright,BUT I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING
WHO THE SELLER IS ON EBAY.

Anyway if it had been on the forum, and said that then i would have taken the whole thing differently.

I PERSONALY Buy from FORUM MEMBERS, and DO NOT TRUST EBAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve's ZUM is on the forum and for sale.

http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=107516

I've done business with Steve but he wants to sell the ZUM and has it here and eBay. He is a good guy if you want a ZUM.

The compact key head and changer look alot like Carter, not sure about the pedal bar and 2 of the legs. It does look like someone put Franklin fret boards on it.
I would like to see under the hood before I would bid.

I sell on E Bay all the time but common sense whould tell you to stay clear of sellers like this. Almost 800 negative feedback s in one month!!!!!! Yikes.

He obviously knows nothing about what he is selling and seems to care even less. Don't knock all E bay seller because of a few clowns

Bad thing is that a beginner with no knowlege, and who hasnt been on the forum, would probably in fact buy this. Read their descriptions below. For one, they "do not assemble the items", Two, "We do not know the make or model of this fine instrument, but we do know that the tone quality is highly impressive." So you mean you dont assemble it, but you know the tone quality of it! I hate to say this, but I dont feel sorry for the guy who buys this one! Idea

From the website:

Condition:
Bask in the glory of this amazing Pedal Steel guitar as you impress all of your friends with such a magnificent instrument.
Features:

Two Neck
20 strings (10 per neck)
Great sound
George L's E66 pickups
Hardshell case

[Dimensions: Approximately 33.5 in. x 11 in. x 4 in. (instrument part only, full height is unknown as we do not assemble the items)
We do not know the make or model of this fine instrument, but we do know that the tone quality is highly impressive.
Condition:
Item does not power on. Item appears to be missing; Documents. Item has some broken strings, and other minor damage. As with all liquidation products this is sold 'as is' and what you see in the photo is what you are bidding on.]

Speaking of Ebay fraud, and it made sense, but someone told me that to get the bidding price up that the seller of the item can actually have people that they know bid on the item to get the bid price up. The only problem there is if the friend of the seller gets stuck with the last bid, which most of the time the fraud bidder is out of the way by the time the last bid is given.

That is called shill bidding and if eBay finds out, they can suspend your account!

They should Curt, but I see a lot of junk like that on ebay. It goes on a lot. You see so much junk on there that you know shouldn't be selling for a price like that. I have contacted ebay on several items.
