You need to uninstall your (all) current Adobe Flash Player, go to adobe.com and download/install the new version, then restart your computer.

Here is a link to previous threads about this problem.

As an unrelated side-note, if I were Jonathan, I'd be interested that the spelling of my name in your signature line is different from how I spell my name.

I'm not Jonathan, of course, so it's none of my business.

One place to view/update /remove these objects in IE7 is:

Tools/Internet Options/General Then under Browsing History, click the settings button, On the resulting tab, click View Objects. Right click the Shockwave Flash Object and you will have the option to Update, Remove or view the Properties. I have never had to uninstall to update this. I am not sure you need to. Under Properties/Version you can see if version 9 is installed (or not).

David;
Are you operating in a Limited or Power User account? If so you must switch into an Administrator level account to manage the add-ons, or to uninstall Adobe Flash.

David;
Get Firefox, go to www.adobe.com and click on the Adobe Flash Player button link to go to the Flash downloads page. Download and save the file, then run it from your hard drive. If there are no error messages reboot the computer, then go back to the Adobe Flash page to see if you were successful in upgrading to the current version.

If you were able to upgrade your next job, should you accept it, is to go to your C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash directory and hunt down all previous Flash files and remove them, pronto. Only leave the current Adobe Flash Player file in the system directory. At this time those file names have a 9b before the extensions: Flash9b.ocx and FlashUtil9b.exe. You may also have these valid files in that sub-directory: flashplayer.xpt, NPSWF32.dll and NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe . Any older numbers, like Flash6x,7x,8x should be deleted to avoid a vulnerability in their mere presence.

Well, David, consider that I'll always be available to help when spelling becomes an issue. As it turns out, correct spelling has always come easy to me, so, if you ever have a question regarding how to properly spell anything, I'm available (for a price - Wink )
