Look at this guitar on eBay. It's obviously a pedal that someone has gutted out to make a lap steel (one with legs). I had never heard of a pedal steel rick. Am I the only one surprised by this?

You may be quite right that it may not be "original" but still a nice looking block of wood with strings. I am not an archaeologist but might be willing to overlook some lack of authenticity for the right price....unfortunately this will probably go for more than it's market value. I would be interested in some theories about where it might have originated...maybe started life as a Bigsby? Confused By the way if you want to look:

If you pull up the Rickenbacker site and go into "vintage" you will see several pictures of the pedal steels made by Rickenbacker.

As for the Ricks, the first one looks a lot like mine. The pedal mechanism has been removed. The second one appears to be non-pedal from birth.
