Jack,

From the previous years of Spam festivals, there was no steel guitar to be heard. It's likely that they'll have any this year too.

Spam is regarded as "the poor man's steak" here in Hawaii. Very Happy

If you visitors get a chance, you must try a Spam Egg McMuffin at the McDonalds on Kalākaua across the street from the beach. Very tasty.

I can remember my Mom frying slices of spam during WW2, just to brown them off.
Glad when the war was over and she quit buying Spam. Very Happy

I grew up with Spam during WW II. We had it with a rasin glaze, like ham and in sandwiches. Also Spam salad and fried Spam too.
Liked it then and still like it.
We keep a few cans around for Hurricane Season.

More Spam sold in Hawaii than anyplace in the world.

I was raised on it as a kid and liked it. I wouldn't touch it now, unless I was starving to death. Why? It's contents are known to clog your arteries!!! Rolling Eyes

Aloha, Smile
