This is a mournful little ditty recorded in our studio over the last couple of nights.
Written by Cathe St Jean -
Vocals by Cathe & Marie St Jean . .
It has little bit of Steel Guitar on the Remington Steelmaster T8, 2 Electric Guitar tracks (my old Guild X500), Acoustic Guitar, Piano, Hammond C3 Organ, Bass, Drums.
Oh yeah, and Strings too . .

Great job Rick !!!
Love the Steel in the backround. Wish I could have been in your studio to see and hear it recorded. Now that I have met you I can picture you in back of that great looking Remington. I will let you know when the Rick arrives and how I like it. I hope it's as nice as the seller said it was.
Kindest regards always,

You know you just have too many toys to play with.
That song sounded great. Some nice steel moans in the backround. I have always loved those hammond organs too.

Thanks Don - glad you like it. The stainless legs you made for my Steelmaster contribute a lot to its tonality and stability . .
John, I appreciate that. I enjoyed the vist also - it's nice to talk to somebody who has a genuine interest in Steel Guitar and related subjects. Come back any time!
Roy, coming from you that's a real compliment! I love the piece you posted right about the same time - so beautiful . .
Chuck, what a nice thing to say. Yes, living right and lots of practice - words to live by for sure . .
The girls thank you too.
Thanks Gary - yep, nothing like a big ol' organ and steely moans to express feeling.
Seriously, thank you buddy - I'm happy you like it.
Mike, thanks man! I don't know about that too many toys thing though - I never realized there was such a thing as too many . .
They're tools as well as toys, and I use 'em all! (just not all at once)
but I still don't have a Quad . .
I really appreciate all the nice comments, especially in view of who they're coming from. I mean, it's always gratifying when "regular" people like my music and show their appreciation - indeed,it's very important.
But when it comes from fellow musicians and Steel Players whose opinions have a lot of comprehesive experience and knowledge - it has a much greater significance to me.
I'm trying to do my part to promote Steel Guitar and to show the general public that it's an beautiful and versatile instrument that fits in virtually any kind of music. I figure the best way I can do that is to feature it prominently in the songs we record, and also in live shows.
So your support and encouragement means more to me than words can say. Thanks so much guys! I hope to meet more of you in person as time goes on . .

Boy
That Remington sounds great. What a tone and sustain. I tried Howard R's Steelmaster here at home and was it ever solid sounding.
Some say it's all in the hands and I do agree
Rick has the hands and Remington is obliging
to what Rick puts into it.
Great job Rick, maybe one of these days I'll
get me a Remington..Herb if you're watching you have a great guitar here buddy and Rick does it justice. whew tight and bold
and melodic way to go Rick. |

Thanks so much for the kind words Jody!
Your support and encouragement really mean a lot . .
I hope you do get a Steelmaster - it's a truly amazing steel guitar, as befitting a truly amazing steel guitarist like yourself.
You're welcome to come on down to Florida and play mine anytime.

I like this mix. I've said it before, but I love the sound of the steel recorded like this... it's able to breathe!
Hammond organ?!! Rick, you don't know how jealous I am of that. |

Thanks Jeff! I'm happy that you enjoyed it.
Yep, there's nothin quite like sticking a big ol' organ into the mix!
I recorded the Steelmaster using 2 FSKs, one miked about 2' in front of the speaker and the other about 6' away and raised up about 5' to get that room ambience. I used a Boss RV5 stereo reverb pedal set with just a touch of 'verb to enhance the stereo-ness of the Steel. I experimented with various pan settings and ended up with the close miked track panned about 10% right and the far miked track panned about 60% left.

Rick,
Took me awhile to get to this post, glad I did.
Man, you really are a serial, mass producer of new, enjoyable & unique material!!!...not an easy thing to do, IMHO..
Ditto, Roy Thomson (he should know) comment's on the chord changes. Neat dynamics there on this one.
Same for Jody's comment's on the steel work. The Knight of Tweedness always knows....
Bottom line is I enjoyed this new song too....better late than never.
I cannot fathom how you do it, keep "em" rolling....TX
rgds,
Ron

Hmmmmmmm.. not sure what I'm doing wrong, but when I right click, save to my desktop and open it, Media Player opens it, but it sounds all garbled and speeds up/slows down, like a turntable that's not working right.
???
I've never had a problem before, so I'm not sure what's going on with it. Any ideas? I'd love to hear the tune.
Thanks.
