And so is Dick Contino!! On a whim, I went to his website, and called the number listed. Dick answered! We talked about music for about 20 minutes; he still does shows, concerts, Italian music/culture festivals, etc.
And yes, he still plays "Lady of Spain."
Western swing connection: Milton Delugg played accordion with Spade Cooley upon occasion, and recorded with Spade. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

Herb,
Milton was also part of Bill Boyd and the Cowboy Ramblers wonderful 1947 west coast sessions with Noel Bogs on steel. One really classic cut from those sessions was "American Patrol."
As a side note that cut was the theme song of Zeb Carver (Steel Guitar Hall of Famer, Jody's dad) New York City country and Western Swing DJ radio show in the 1940s. _________________ Mike |

I imagine most of you will remember DeLugg when he fronted the NBC Studio Orchestra, back in the New York City days, trading shots with JC. |
