Just wanted to let everyone know that I spoke with Bill Asher and he has teamed up (again) with Ben Harper to design a new lap steel model.
They based the new concept on the classic 59’ Gibson Les Paul. According to Bill: "The Harper Series II Limited Edition will feature a flame maple top with a cherry sunburst finish in nitro cellulose lacquer, Gibson-style bridge and tailpiece, and a pair of Seymour Duncan Les Paul-style humbuckers for that classic ’59 sound."
Besides the Les Paul features, the Harper Series II will have a similar construction to the Electro Hawaiian (i.e. cylindrical sound chambers, body shape and scale length; 25”).
I was interested in the Electro, but Bill assured me that the Harper Series II really delivers a "crunch" tone, while the Electro is intended to have a cleaner, classic lap steel tone. Needless to say, he sold me and I'm now on the waiting list for the first shipment!

This new Asher-and the MSA Superslide-and a double neck Remington Steelmaster-I better get down to the corner convenience store to buy some tickets-I REALLY need to win the lottery!
