I noticed in the past few weeks they are changing the format by adding some 80's and 90's hits, as well as playing 70's southern rock. Before they were just playing current chart material. The local station is owned by clear channel. _________________ -johnson |

eric,
One of the Clear Channel radio stations in my area switched to an all classic country format about 4 years ago. They are among the top rated in the area. Go figure. Maybe someone at Clear Channel is starting to pay attention to the people who listen to the radio. Real country music isn't dead, as some would try to have us believe. _________________ John Parker

To misquote Frank Zappa: "Country music's not dead, it just smells funny." |

Just around the corner is a return to Kenny Rogers, Crystal Gayle, Lee Greenwood and a few others that turned me off to Country radio.
I get 3 different stations here from Philly, Maryland & Delaware. they all suck. _________________ Bo Borland

Guys you would think here in Texas there would be a butt load of great (old) country music stations. Unfortunately there is only one good station that is classic country, and I mean it is a NO Garth Brooks/Kenny Chesney radio station. They are big on the Steel sound down here to as a matter of fact this same radio stations fill in music (when they are making announcements) is nothing but steel guitar.
So can ya'll guess which radio station I listen too? |

Bo,you mentioned Kenny,Crystal, and Lee,IMO these are more pop artist than country,I did LIKE Kenny with the First Edition, but his over produced,syrupy,so-called country I never cared for,But can't knock him,he made big bucks doing it. _________________ Hard headed, opinionated old geezer. Charles, I would never knock an artist for making major money doing what they do. Like you, I just never cared for it much on the country radio stations, but the housewives who call in and make requests obviously did. At least that is the spin the music directors always told me.
I also never cared much for the over produced stuff Chet Atkins or even Ray Price did.
I have a Sirius radio that gives me 5 or 6 country stations 24-7-365 I flat love it. _________________ Bo Borland

The format change was probably because of the $12.5 million dollar fine that was imposed on them and they also have to play more independant label stuff. |
