I have a few aquisitions I'd thought I'd post....one of them being a SuperSlide.....8 strings on the front neck & 9 on the rear.....3/8 string spacing on both

The front neck is tuned to G7

1. G
2. D
3. B
4. G
5. D
6. B
7. G
8. F....1 1/2 tone highr than string 5

sometimes I'll tune the F to E if I'm just messing around on that neck.....with the back neck tuned to C6, I really don't need to

1. G
2. E
3. C
4. A
5. G
6. E
7. C
8. A
9. F

Beautiful guitars
Wonderful colors.

I went with just one neck. the 12 str C6.
It is all on there...somewhere!

I notice that playing it really improves my PSG technique. right and left hand.

Howard, I been lookin' for some full time work. Maybe I can be your guitar tech? Cool

The only reason I didn't get a 12 string....is the string spacing....I'm so used to dobro & 3/8 spacing

Howard, do you have a single 8 SS? I'd like to take it for a spin if you do. Do you have a Sierra Lap Top? I'd be interested in comparisons.

HI, Do the pickups sound good? Someone said they sound like a Rick Bakelite. Are they George Ls or made by MSA? It's a very beautiful guitar.

Mike,....I don't have a SS 8....I do have a Sierra S8.

About a year & a half ago, maybe two, we had a slide off after the Jim Hefferenan workshop that I hosted at my store.

Bill McCloskey's SS 12 against my Sierra S 12.......The SS 12 had a clearer tone, better separation, particularly on the bottom. The Sierra was a bit muddy in comparison.....at the same amp settings.....no matter how I tweaked it, the Sierra couldn't quite come up to the sound & tone of the SS.

I love my Sierra S12 because it has a wide string spacing.....I'll probably have the pu re wound at some point.....

I was under the impression that all SuperSlides were 22.5" on the scale length.

The idea being that the shorter length makes it easier for slants and quick moves, yet the engineering is such that no sustain is lost, even with the shorter scale length.

Howard, congratulations. That's a great-looking doubleneck!

One thing-- since the neck has a taper, is the string spacing 3/8" at the bridge and somewhat narrower at the nut, or something else? And if it's 3/8" at the bridge, what is it at the nut? Inquiring minds etc... (OK, I guess technically that was two things... Smile )
