Wade,

I've only heard an iTunes sample of the song. Just a small taste of steel and Tele were on it.

I don't know who the steel picker is, but I'm pretty sure the Tele picker is Deryl's road band picker, Steve Rhian. The last time I saw Deryl's band it was just Deryl on acoustic, Andrew Raley on drums, Kerry Wilson on bass, and Steve on Telecaster. Frankly, the steel wasn't missed because Steve Rhian is a flat-out MONSTER picker. He does all the intros, fills, solos, and outros for every song, and believe it or not, I was hard-pressed decide if he played any lick or fill twice! His playing, at times, reminds me of Danny Gatton, without sounding like a copycat. If you get a chance to see Deryl Dodd, don't miss it, Deryl's a great guy and a great entertainer. But, in addition, Steve Rhian will have your jaw bangin' the floor with his amazing pickin' (consider that a warning Wink )!

Keep on pickin'!
Glenn

PS: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Steve plays all the "steel" licks at the live show, BUT does NOT sound like some lame "B-bender picker". He convincingly mimics a PSG!!! Shocked

Glen, your absolutely right about Steve Rhain !! Ive seen Daryl a couple of times and he's pretty amazing.I just figured he used studio musicians on the album.
Ive narrowed my guess on the steel player down to these players:

Lloyd Maines
Tommy Detamore
or
Steve Palousek

The tele player sounds like the guy on Kevin Fowler's last album,I just cant remember his name !!

Wade, thanks for the heads up on Deryl. I think he has a great voice and some great songs out. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I know that I've heard that Deryl plays some steel guitar. Am I just getting old or do you know anything about that? Ray

Wade,

Andrew Raley just started working with our band and I asked him who was playing steel with Daryl and Andrew said he didn't use one on his shows.

Daryl, due to some problems with his management, let his band go and is trying to get something going in Nashville from what I understand.

BTW- I been hearing your bands name a lot on 92.1 playing Pearls and the Stagecoach. Sounds like things are going well for you guys and I know you're having fun playing those clubs.

I'll try to come see you if I ever get another weekend free in the near future.

Wade, You might want to change it again after asking who Dan Dugmore was... Laughing heehee! I'm just kidding.

At every mention of Dan Dugmore, I always have to go back and listen to this: http://users.interlinks.net/rebel/steel/bluebayou.mp3

Compliments of the "Rebelâ„¢, Ricky and Jeffs' MP3 Audio Clips And Tab" website.

Respectfully,
