I've read about the George L cables on this Forum and the tone difference some of you have heard when comparing with other instrument cables, but are there and notable differences in tone for mic cables?? If so, what are the best brands out there now?

I don't know about tone, but I use quad twisted-pair cables with braided shields because of the improved noise rejection. The twisted pairs average out any differences in impedance, improving common-mode rejection.

I think is the best value these days is the EWI Pro Quad line of mic cables.

Opinions on tone tend to be subjective; for example the current issue of Live Sound magazine has a columnist who writes about how much better his audio system sounds using one of those outrageously expensive AC cords.

In any case I've been using the EWI cables linked to above for quite a while and they compare well to ProCo and other highly regarded brands.

I don't know a brand, but be sure that you get a mic cord that will not make noise when you move it or step on it. Some are very noisy.

Thanx,
Jim
