A guy told me the newest one that Evans is using is the best, His opinion. But he did say they are 8 Ohm. My power amp is suppose to perform best with 8 Ohm speakers. Atleast thats what it says on the Amp. It is a Mosvalve 500.
Thanks,
Gary.

The ones I've used are as good, or better, than most average speakers.

I've heard them quite a bit....since I've been using
them exclusively for a couple years now. Wink
Both the Eminence and Jensen models. I'd never go
back to those "boat anchor" speakers again.

Jay, Which ones do you use? Also do you know about the one Evans is suppose to be using exclusively?
Thanks, Gary.

Is that like the "neodyum (?)" speakers Mike Brown was talking about at the Dallas show? I just got in on the tail end of it, but they sound like a real innovation.

Yeah, Mike has been talking about them for months now. I'm sure their neodymium speakers will
be excellent....just wondering what the hold up is.
Alot of guys like Peavey speakers, but their backs aren't going to hold up much longer. Rolling Eyes
Gary,
Evans was using the Eminence Deltalite but I'm not sure what they're using now since those are discontinued.
Either they're using the Deltalite II's or the Kappalite's
(which Tom Bradshaw is offering with the new Webb amps).
That's what I've been using these days in my larger
combo. My smaller one has a Jensen 12" Neo inside.

Jay tell me more about your setup. I tried Kappalites in a Peavey LTD and in a Marrs cab with different power amps. While I loved the lighter weight, I found only at low stage volumes did they cut it, each time I went back to the 1501-4SB Black Widows and found the clean tone I was looking for. TC Furlong has a 12" Neo in his powered cabs that DID sound great to me. Peavey has been working on their 15" Neo BW for years now...still have not heard one..could you play through one in Dallas?

Hey Dyke,
I've got my Kappalite in an old tweed Bassman cabinet
along with a 560 watt power amp. (40 lbs. total)
My preamp/FX is a PODxt. I've had it in some loud
band situations (including outdoors) and it blows away
any & all competition on stage. It cuts through great.
It does have more body to it than my Jensen Neo. but that's a 12",
so that's part of the reason.
The high end on the Jensen will kill if I don't back off the high EQ frequencies though!
Each speaker has it's own flavor I guess....and Peavey would have their own also
if and when then get around to making their Neo BW.

I guess I must have a very incorrect picture of what these new speakers are. I thought the only difference was that the new magnetic material was radically lighter than the materials used in ceramic and alnico magnets. I thought that the frames, cones, voice-coils were basically the same, and only the magnet was different.

That is basically the case. The rest of the
speaker structure is pretty much the same.

Mike, Correct me if I am wrong. I thought at Dallas, you told me that the new Peavey light weight magnet assembly would fit on a standard 1501 BW basket. I sure am anxious to get one.
