On a documentary show about 20 years ago I heard a version of this song that featured a steel guitar very prominently. I suspect it was something recorded in the 40s / 50s, but have no idea who the steel player may have been
Reason for asking: I'd like to see if I can find a copy of this recording. |

Noel Boggs was the steelman for the "Sons Of The Pioneers" (Roy's former group), so there's a good chance it was him playing. However, both Joaquin Murphy and Jerry Byrd also did some cuts, so we'd probably have to hear a version to tell for sure. Also, you might cross-post this in "Steel Without Pedals", as those guys are a little closer to that old non-pedal stuff.  |
