Well, I bought an Electromatic on ebay for $52 and it is a real fixer upper. I need a control plate, pickup & cover, bridge, nut, tuners and a whole lot of TLC.
The bad news is some AH routed the body with a chisel for a full size humbucker and used a drill to make the cut out in the control plate, Yuk!
The good news is there was a 1964 Fender Champ pickup mounted in it! That was worth the price of admission by its self. The body is otherwise very presentable. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rich
Edit: The guitar was built in the late 40s/early 50s.

Do I understand that you have the original control plate with some material removed??
If so then I would try to save that part if you cannot find a new part. You can clean up the cut with a file and then make a new "surround" for the pickup out of plastic that would match up the to cut out in the control plate. Just my 2 cents. |

Yep, the original control plate is present but mutilated. I considered your suggestion and still can go that route. I can dremel the hole to be smoother than a baby's butt. I'll try to get a couple of pics up later tonight. This one will be a "challange". It would be cool however to find some usable used parts.
Thanks,

Bill,
That stuff is for a modern era electromatic. My guitar, about a 1950 model, is supposed to look like this, maybe someday it will:
I guess I should have put an approx. model year in my post. What was I thinking. gues I wasn't.
Thanks,
