I don't know if this has been posted before, but Diane Diekman of Washington DC has a new book coming out in the fall of 2007. As you can see by the title, it is about the Sheriff. I am looking forward to reading it when it comes out. You can do a search for Faron Young News Letter and it will give you more information....rj

Do you think a movie will be done about Faron's life, and who would play the leading role?

I have a link to said newsletter on the QuickLinks bar on my site.
As for the star in any forthcoming movie, I nominate Waylon Payne, singing son of Jody Payne & Sammi Smith, who was in the recent Cash movie.

Cal, great call on Waylon Payne. He was great in "Walk The Line". The question is : is he short enough to play Faron? Laughing

Waylon Payne would be a great choice, but he might be afraid of getting typcast Smile

He is also starring as Hank "Sugarfoot" Garland in a movie that I believe is currently looking for distribution.

As long as they used Farons voice on the tracks they could use any young actor. As long as it ain't "John Boy".or George Hamilton :lol:could be a great roll for Sean Penn or Robert Downey Jr.

That played "Live Fast, Love Hard..." on Willie's Place while I was listening to XM over the weekend. I couldn't help but think that Faron had actually lived that song. He didn't necessarily die young, but he died before his time and that he lived all other points of the chorus can be substantiated.

Bottom line is he sure gave us a lot of the good old good stuff. They also played a favorite of mine, "Four In the Morning".

I always loved Faron Youngs brand of country. He was a good singer and used lots of steel in his music. His death was a tragic way to go for such a great country music star. I too like the "Four In The Morning" and "Hello Walls". Those were two of my favorites that he sang.

Faron was one of the real ones, when we had REAL country music, love to watch the old vidios when he was a very young man on the opry, back when the opry was not a rock and roll show.
