I have a Steeler's Choice Mark IV seat that I would like to replace the foam padding. I have recently replaced it once with some foam purchased at a local fabric store, but it is not working very well. Does anyone know how to get in touch with the manufacturer ? Or does anyone have any recommendations on the type of replacement material ? Apparently this foam is not as easy to find as I first thought. I appreciate any help.

Lance,
The last time I replaced the foam in my seat, I went to carpet installer and got enough scrap pieces of 8# carpet pad to cut four sheets to size, glued them together and recovered the top. It gives a firm but comfortable place to park, and has shown no signs of fatigue after two years of use.
Ken Rollins can provide you with the foam he uses if you contact him. |

Lance,
Any upholstery guy in your area can provide what you need...probably from their scraps.
There is "good" foam and there's "bad" foam...the difference being the density. Ask for the best foam they have. They will know what you're talking about.
Good luck,

Thank you gentlemen - I certainly appreciate the help. I have a call into Mr. Rollans, and also sent him an email - I am sure he will respond. I will also check the local carpet places - good ideas. This forum really is a beautiful thing.

As Rodger said above, carpet pad. Most of the foam rubber is just to soft so it compresses down to much. Before the night is over there is nothing between you and a piece of plywood.

Have any of you ever seen foam rubber just disappear/evaporate over several years. I've had some foam padding and foam ear cups that, in the space of 10 years, just de-materialized, kinda like StarTrek. What causes that? |
