Jim Flynn of Lone Star Steel Guitars has just about finished my 6 string pedal guitar and I just had to show you guys some pics of it. I contacted Jim after seeing the S6 (6 string) and S8 (8 string)guitars he had designed on his website http://www.lonestarsteelguitar.com/home.html I have always wanted a dedicated 6PSG and had him build it for me. Jim has made this a very fun project and I highly reccommend him for any custom work you might need.

I made the body for him out of some birdseye maple that I have had for 30 years. The guitar will have six on the floor and 5 knees one being vertical. I made the fretboard from some curly maple and it will actually have frets in it as soon as I get the guitar and test some different fret sizes. There is a "ledge" machined in the side of the fretboard facing the player to allow the thumb on the left hand to have a place to "grab" so that the guitar can be fretted with the fingers of the left hand and also be played with the bar. There is a shim under the fretbd that can be removed if I just want to make a standard height PSG played with the bar only.
There will be two pickups on the guitar mounted in easily moveable pickup mounts that will allow the front PU a range of movement from the end of the fretbd to several inches toward the changer. A thumbwheel on the side of the guitar locks down the PU in the position desired. The back pickup will also be moveable but not as much. This will provide nice tonal possibilities. The keyhead is Jims' keyless design for compactness. The changer is very cool in that it has a set of rollers that are mounted on the top of the guitar for sustain and energy transfer into the body or the roller setup could be unbolted from the top and the tops of the cams could be used by just bolting on a fretboard with the correct longer scale, so you have the potential for two scales on the guitar.

I am so tickled with the way this is turning out and once again dealing with Jim is about as easy as you can imagine. Again, I highly recommend his work.

I should have the guitar in a week or so and will be doing the final tweaking on the frets and electronics and will post again upon completion.

Thanks Roy. Going to tune it like standard guitar EADGBE. Plenty of raises and lowers to do a lot of music with! It is going to be just what I have always needed and wanted.
