The smaller magnet assembly allows this MRI with Jason Lollar's "Pole Piece-less" bobbin ... to drop right in.

No modification to the guitar is needed ... not even to the pickguard orifice. As you can see, the unit rides over the plane of the body.

It can accomodate the Sierra 8's string spacing ... yet still fit in a standard Ricky mounting plate.

I went with the "Black Oxide" look because I thought it was a better match for this particular steel guitar ...

I ain't changin' this pickup out again ...

I can't imagine anything that would improve this one ...

Anyone within drivin' distance of me or are planning a vacation to Shenandoah National Park, the Blue Ridge Mountains or Washington DC this spring or summer ...

Please feel free to drop in ... have a few cold ones ... and play this rascal ...

Ole' #041 has never sounded this good before !!!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Hey Rick is this the same set up used in the "battle of the pans"? and if not when will we get to hear it?

Nope ... that was a MRI magnet assembly with a Jasons standard Ricky type bobbin.

I just finished this one ... about an hour ago.

I recorded some strums and harmonics that I'll post later on ...

Rick,
The black has a great contrast against the chrome plates ! Fits the Sierra theme perfect. Can't wait for my set....... even though they wont be black, the sound is what I am after.
Great job,as always,
Todd

Rick that's a mighty sweet tone, absolutely beautiful. I wonder how "Maui Waui" chimes would sound on it?

Dang, Rick -- you rock! That's a sweeet tone you got there.

One of these days, I'm going to have to get a steel fitted with "shoes."

Yummmm...

Whoops -- forgot to ask...

What do these sound like through a toooob amp? I'd love to hear 'em through something like an old Supro or some other 5-watter kind of bottle-style amp. I don't have an old one, but I do have a little 5-watt VC-508 Crate with a single EL84 in it that sounds pretty darn good, and I would guess one of these p'ups would sound nice, juicy and PHAT through it!

Thanks again.

Thanks y'all ...

I use the Microcube cause lots of folks have them and know their sound.

VC mode, all effects to zero ... tone, gain and volume set at 10 O'Clock ... wide open vol/tone on the steel ... no volume pedal.

This way ... you get a taste ... and know how its "seasoned"
