I'm not sure if this will work for y'all or not, but it's a digital camera clip of myself and some of my braddahs getting together on our lanai a few weeks ago. You'll need QuickTime to play it, I believe. The camera was set on a table, so it's I apologize that it's kind of stagnent that way.

In any case, we got together to have a few beers and play some tunes. This one is "South Sea Lullabies." I'm on steel (hidden behind my guitarist, who's playing my upright bass). I had just taught them the basic gist of the song, and then we hit the play button. These guys are fun to hang with.

I'm playing through a little 5-watt Crate tube amp with an 8-inch speaker. I really dig the old-fashioned tone of that amp.

Allright Todd! Breaking the video barrier on the Steel Guitar Forum!!!

But... come on... we don't want to look at the guy on snare with the brushes, we want to see your vibrato.

Fun band, they have the feel most definitely.

Cool Kats! That was real nice, real sweet.

I love the, "You had to do that," at the end. LOL.

Hey, thanks for the nice comments, you guys.

Yeah, the whole clip was really just a haphazard, last minute idea. My guitarist had that camera with him, and it basically just got set on the shelf and turned on. Only later after the clip was sent to me via email did I see that my vibrato is hidden from view!

The cat sitting at the table is our buddy Pablus, and he's playing an Island concert ukulele. The tone of that puppy is sooooo sweeeeeeet. He and his buddy (who's playing a Mele koa baritone) to his left, also just outside the frame are a duo called "Happy Talk" that does some local stuff over in Tampa. Pablus also writes some really beautiful tunes. When we finally get around to recording them, I'll try to post something. One in particular is a tune he calls Limahuli, which is simply beautiful.

The guy "making soup" is my drummer, who usually plays either concert or baritone ukulele, depending on what we need when we're playing as a trio. Sometimes, we do old swing tunes or Latin stuff sans steel (either uke/uke/bass or uke/bass/perc), hence the snare/brushes and Latin percussion setup.

Oh yeah, you can kind of glimpse it in the very beginning, but I'm playing my '56 Stringmaster (24.5) on the B11 neck on this tune.

Our ohana is supposed to get together to grill meat, imbibe fermented malt beverages and jam some more this Thursday, so I'll see if we can't get a better steel shot this time.

Mahalo, braddahs!
