After the discussions about the Variax tone-changer/tuning changer that were on here before, did anyone ever get any feed-back from the manufacturer or anyone about the possibility of it being used on a lap steel guitar ?

It would be real easy to convert a stock Variax into a lap steel. This would give you a wide variety of tones on stage but most of them wouldn't appeal to the majority of steel guitarists. And of course there's nothing like a real steel guitar in the studio.

I have a Variax guitar and to be honest I have never been seriously tempted to convert it. The acoustic sounds would be nice to play with but they're just toys compared to the sound of a real resonator or Weisenborn style steel guitar.
