I suppose this should be in the Pedal Steel section, but people around here tend to be more knowledgeable about the Hawaiian or Hawaiian-esque stuff...

I was watching the Lawrence Welk Show on PBS this afternoon and one of the tunes they performed was "Ke Kali Nei Au" (as the "Hawaiian Wedding Song", in English).

There was a very visible steel player seated in the background playing a cream or almond-colored Fender 400, with real nice tone and vibrato.

Jeff,

I believe that his name is Buddy Merrill.

I saw the program too - I wish he had played a few more Hawaiian licks than he did on the song.
