I just found out that the local Country station (wwyz, Hartford) broadcasts "classic Country" on HD radio. They interpret this as 40 years. All I would need to do is buy a radio (Boston acoustics makes one, $300). I'm listening online and they are playing mostly 80s stuff right now. What is your experience with this technology?

So, you'd pay $300 to hear ordinary country music on the radio? Razz

I may be wrong, but it seems like mostly gimmick to me. Yeah okay, they can throw in some text, but how long before that becomes scrolling commercials? I think the "Buy Button" is their real reasoning behind all the hype over it.

As far as the advantages of it's better sound, high fidelity is rather useless without good programming, and there's no reason to believe the programming will be much different that what we get on ordinary radio stations.

Personally, I'll wait until the radios are under $100. Wink
