I am running XP on two computers in our house. Yesterday my e-mail on just one machine said not connected to the server. How can this be when it still works on the other computer and both are still delivering the high speed internet??

Stuff happens to mail servers. Sometimes they just stop responding. Try again and make sure that the other computer is not trying to log onto the mail server at the same time.

If the problem persists check you email account settings to see if they have changed, and change them back if necessary. Also, check your firewall to see if it is blocking the email program. This can happen after updating a program and not notifying your firewall that the change is to be allowed.

Otherwise, this type of problem can usually be attributed to the statement: "Due the the convergence of forces beyond our comprehension, our email was squirted out of the universe, never to be seen again."
