I recently bought a Emmons P/P.It came set up with the George L Nashville strings.
(E9th)
1-.013
2-.015
3-.011
4-.014
5-.017
6-.020
7-.026
8-.030
9-.034
10-.036
I believe Bobby Bowman set up the guitar a
while back with these string gauges.
My question is, can I go with different gauge strings without compromising the set up that Bobby put on it ? Will it affect the tuning of the guitar ?
I really want to try the "Ricky Davis " series Jagwire strings, they are a little heavier gauge strings. |

Wade,
You can certainly change the string gauges to Ricky's sets. However, you will probably have to make a few minor stop and tuning adjustments and perhaps a collar or two adjustments. Call or email me and I'll be glad to try and help you.

I am using the Ricky Davis nickel set on my S-10 PP. I had to adjust the travel stops on one or two pedals, but the rest was tuning at the end plate... The action is a bit harder than with a lighter set, but just barely. |

Ricky's set also uses the wound 6th string which will definitley need an adjustment. I didn't have the knowledge I do now and wound up putting a plain back on the 6th the first time I tried his strings. Other than that all it took was some minor adjustments of the tuner nuts, I really like the heavier strings. The "E9 Heavy Stainless" are pretty close and come with the plain 6th. if you don't want to do any adjustments underneath. |

Thanks Bobby ,for the offer.
Andy, which E9th heavy strings are you referring to ? are they Jagwires ? That sounds like the way I may need to go.
Iam pretty mechanical minded, but even I know my limits and Iam not certain that I would like to crawl under my P/P and start adjusting. |
