Here's another for you straight from my archives.
An all-star cast on this one.

Bill Kaiwa on ukulele and lead vocals
Martin Pahinui on slack key guitar
George Kuo on slack key guitar
Bobby Ingano on steel guitar

Bill sings his classic, Boy from Laupahoehoe.

Bobby is using my very first steel on this recording, a 7 string Rickenbacker Bakelite.

Eddie,

There actually was Bobby doing his trademark sound FX at he end of this song, but I had edited it out.

Derrick, Ron, or Jeff,

Honey's seems to be a very popular spot.

How did Honey's become so popular?

How did it become a popular spot for live Hawaiian music?

Honey's was built after I left Hawaii, so I am just curious.

Aloha, Smile
Don

Honey's was Don Ho's Mom's place ('Honey' Ho) in Kaneohe (once Shakey's pizza!), and thus had a ready made audience that showcased her son and all his musical gang, which included Tony Bee on master uke, Genoa Keawe's 1st son, Gary Aiko on bass/uke/vocals, Kui Lee, legendary songsmith/vocalist, Koko Kanealii (my 1st Hawaiian friend) on drums (Down Beat jazz poll winner,'71) and many more.
They moved down the block a few years later.
It was the place to be for good fun until closing, THEN it really started cooking when Don would have the doors locked and have a small room with a piano opened up for his friends, and would entertain them til sunrise.

There is existing live recordings from those days that should be made for public consumption. I've got a tiny bit, and they had fun!

Honey's now lives on as 'Honey's at Koolau', where good old style Hawaiian music can still be enjoyed.
