I have been considering mounting a new fret board over an all wood neck that is finished with nitrocellulose lacquer. I realize most adhesives cause an adverse reaction to this type of lacquer. Any suggestion for an adhesive that would be non-damaging to the finish, in the event I wanted to reverse the process at a future time? I would hate to ruin the original lacquer fret board.
Thanks for any suggestions.

When I install a new fretboard, I use nothing but double backed tape. It really sticks and there is no problem removing the fretboard if you change your mind later on. Very Happy

There is at least a possibility that anything you use to stick the fretboard down may damage some of the underlying finish. So if it's a real "collector's piece", I'd leave it alone.

On the other hand, if it's just an ordinary guitar (one built, say, after 1964) and the new part will improve the appearance, just do it...and then leave it that way.

How does that differ from Elmer's glue?
