Lately I have been listening to Dan Dowd playing on www.16tracks.com and have so enjoyed his playing. I know that he made his own guitar, but does anyone know what effects he uses. _________________ LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN GEORGIA |

I saw him at Saluda some years ago and he was using a Lexicon MPX 100 into a Peavey amp.Had a special clamp for the lexicon on the right rear leg of his guitar.
Outstanding player.

Dan was a personal friend of mine, as well as many others who I'm sure share the same thoughts, and I miss him very much. I would call him from time to time, and I always enjoyed our freindship and conversations. He never gave himself enough credit for the player he was. Needless to say, his passing shocked many of us.

I second everything J.B. said.
I spoke with Jerry Fessenden yesterday, and he said the Dallas show was a little different this year, and it did not feel the same/nor did he have as much fun. I did'nt get it untill I saw this post, and a little light went off.
J.F and Dan were ALWAYS together at the shows, and I know Jerry was devastated at Dans passing.
For me Dan Dowd was one of those guys that made me think to myself....it would not hurt you to be a little more like that guy.
I got to spend a lot of time talking, and hangin with Dan the last several years at the shows, and I know he is missed by everyone that knew him.
Fessy was right it could NOT have been the same this year. cya....Ronnie |
