Think of the ground wire going to the output jack lug, and then 3 wires ,one for each coil on a triple tap pickup.. how would I wire this??.. I have wired several 2 coil taps using a DPDT switch, on/on with a center off,and its been no problem, but I am not sure what kind of switch to use for 3 taps. Is there an on/on/on switch made???.. I know some old ZB guitars had a triple tap... any help would be appreciated!!... bob |

Bob,
Would a Stratocaster switch work? They have three pickups and you can have all kinds of combinations with that switch.
If you can use a rotary switch, I redid a "Banshee" Emmons p/p a while ago and that had a rotary switch on it with all kinds of combinations. If you think you could use it, I'd send it to you.

Erv.. wow.. a strat switch,,, Under the steel probably..hmm.. intriguing idea!!!.. That may actually work.... Let me see what a few of our friends here have to say... I may take you up on your very kind offer of the rotary switch.. I used one on an MSA for years and liked it a lot...bob |

Bob,
If you want a small switch, Mouser P/N 633-M204701-RO for example is a 2P3T (double pole, triple throw) that will give you one coil at a time. In fact just search on 2P3T at Mouser and you'll find a lot of hits. They also offer a 1P3T that's even smaller and you could use that since the ground wire is not switched. Or you could put in a small bank of three 1PST switches that would allow you to pick any one of the 6 possible combinations of the 3 coils at the same time including all off!

Thanks Greg!.. I already thought about the 3 minis, but space is VERY limited on this guitar... If there are really interesting sounds to be had by combining coils it may be a cool idea.. I'll have to see if its worth the effort.. Meanwhile, the Mouser DPTT swithch is sounding like the best option... bob |
