When I was at Wisc. Rapids last weekend, the great Joe Wright was there, and he played what looked like a keyless model, with his initials painted on the front. Does anyone know what brand guitar it is, and 10 or 12 string?

Joe has always played a Sierra. I doubt if a Kline could hold his copedant(they sound great tho).

Joe has played Sierra's for many years. I own the one in the lower picture above. It had Joe's tuning and very tight pulls (that's the way he likes it, with lots of spring back). I sent it to Tom Baker and had the Newman Universal tuning put on it and he loosened it up a bit. I also own a Kline and my wife informed me that one of them has to go. I am a Kline Diehard fan so she is actually going to post it soon on the forum for sale. At the moment my father uses it to practice with and acts like he is Joe while he plays it. It's worth it to me just to see him carry on. My wife will be selling it for approx $3,000.

Joe's Sierra with his initials on it plays real smoothe. One pedal has quite a few pulls on it & still plays smoother...maybe about as stiff as a Carter-Starter. The rest of them play like BUTTER!!!

"Hmmm, the steel or the wife. Tough choice."

Reminds me of the guy that picked up an Indian hichiker. Indian asked, what's in the bag? A bottle of wine, I got it for my wife. Good trade.

Mike... No chance of getting rid of this one.... Her first words to me after I said "I Do" were: "As long as you don't step on my toes or try to call any of the shots, everything will be cool" !!! 25 years later and I am still obeying this persuasive advice.

Guys, I know Rick & his wife and if there's anyone who can make him toe the line, its her. He told me one time they were walking down the street behind a girl wearing a mini-skirt and she caught him looking. She reached over and screwed his head on backwards. He said he had to drive his car in reverse for three weeks until his head got straightened out! Razz

Ray, I knew 25 years ago when I saw Debbie throw down a 1600 lbs horse and sit on it's head that my life was going to be very interesting. I have a million stories on her alone. But back to the original post, here is a picture of Joe's guitar in my practice space...

Rick, please talk her into letting you keep the steels and get rid of that L6-S on the wall Why do you have a boat paddle like that hanging there anyway? Razz

(Jim, the former L6-S owner who really wanted to see if it would make good firewood...)

Jim... Careful ole buddy... That's my wife's guitar... Don't go gettin her fired up again.

Stu... Joe's most recent guitar is the one with the JW on the fron. He told me he is was having another guitar built for him from Sierra when I spoke to him at the St Louis Convention this last year, that is why he sold me this one (he plays mine on the Rocky Top YouTube video).

Joe was playing a purpleish Sierra at Ronnie's guitar shop in Hot Springs AR a few weeks ago.
Just like the one in the photo with the big W in the middle. First time I've ever heard joe play. Although I didn't care for his tone(compared to John Hughey, Herby Wallace, and Ronnie Neighbors) He could make that steel guitar do anything he wanted.
Super player!

Terry
